Authorities take strong note of disconnection of street lights during night hours in Baramulla town
Baramulla, Feb 22: The District Magistrate Baramulla, Minga Shirpa, has taken strong note of unauthorised disconnection of street lights in Baramulla town.
The move comes in response to reports that officials from the Power Development Department (PDD) Division Baramulla have been switching off street lights during night hours causing inconvenience and security concerns for the public.
The order over the issues reads that street lights installed by the Municipal Council Baramulla (MCB) are essential for public safety and must not be disconnected without prior approval from the Chief Executive Officer of MCB.
"Any official found violating this directive will face legal action," reads the order.
The order has been circulated to senior officials including the Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Superintending Engineer KPDCL Circle Baramulla, Executive Engineer PDD Division Baramulla, Tehsildar Baramulla, and CEO MC Baramulla for ensuring strict compliance.
