Authorities seek installation of CCTVs at commercial establishments in Baramulla
Baramulla, Feb 9: All the commercial establishments across Baramulla district have been directed to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in their business premises.
Tehsildar Baramulla, Nissar Ahmad Shah along with Station House Officer (SHO), Khalid Hussain on Friday visited various markets of Pattan and advised the business community to strictly adhere to the guideline and install CCTV cameras within a stipulated time.
Tehsildar Pattan, Nissar Ahmad, said that the exercise has been carried out following a directive from the government to ensure that all the business establishments across the area had the CCTV facility.
He said although several such business establishments had already installed CCTV cameras, still there are scores of business centers which are without such a facility.
“Its aim is greater security; check burglaries besides to address the crime. This will ensure security of common people at large,” said Tehsildar Pattan.
He said the possibility of joint efforts among shopkeepers to collectively install CCTV cameras in markets can also be approved, provided the installed cameras effectively cover both the interiors of business premises and extend to the adjacent road areas.
Meanwhile, Traders Federation Baramulla President, Tariq Ahmad Mughloo said that they have also received a communication from the authorities to direct the shopkeepers to install CCTV cameras at their premises.
“We too have received similar directions. We have submitted a list of shopkeepers to the Tehsil Office Baramulla as demanded by the Baramulla district administration,” he said.
