Authorities in J&K appeal for peace and restraint over Iran situation
Srinagar, Mar 2: Amid growing concern in Kashmir over the recent developments in Iran, voices across sections of society have urged people to maintain peace and avoid any actions that could disturb public order.
The people of Kashmir have expressed grief and solidarity over the situation unfolding in Iran. Many have shared their concerns and emotions through peaceful means, reaffirming the region’s long-standing tradition of expressing views in a dignified and lawful manner.
However, concern has mounted following reports of sporadic incidents of stone-pelting, clashes, and disruption of normal life in parts of the Valley. Community leaders and civil society members have cautioned that violence, destruction of public or private property, and confrontation with security forces serve no constructive purpose and instead harm local communities.
Such incidents, they said, risk injuries, loss of life, imposition of restrictions, closure of educational institutions, and economic setbacks for traders, students, daily wage earners, and families already facing hardships.
An appeal has been made to all sections of society — youth, elders, women, religious scholars, and citizens at large — to exercise utmost restraint and refrain from any form of rioting, violence, or provocative activity. Citizens have also been urged to strictly follow advisories and instructions issued by the police and civil administration to maintain law and order.
Police officials have reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against any individual found instigating violence or engaging in unlawful activities. Authorities, they said, remain committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of life and property across the Valley.
