Ganderbal, Dec 7: The district administration Ganderbal as well as district police Ganderbal has advised the people particularly social media users to refrain from the misuse of digital platforms.

The administration appealed to the public to refrain from “preparing” “posting” “uploading” or propagating incendiary content that glorifies terrorist actions or promotes separatist ideologies. Such misuse of social media is deemed detrimental to the state’s security and the maintenance of law and order.

Citizens have been directed to abstain from “posting” or “uploading” such content within the jurisdiction of District Ganderbal, an official order from district magistrate Ganderbal Shyambir said.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, on Thursday urged the people of the Ganderbal district to refrain from the misuse of social media, warning that legal action will be taken against anyone found engaging in such activities.

SSP Ganderbal appealed to the general public, especially the youth, to desist from misusing social media and to act as responsible citizens. “The district administration has already issued orders in this regard. There is a need for cautious and restricted use of social media to prevent the propagation of anti-national ideologies, promotion of terrorist actions, spreading intimidation, and circulating false rumors,” SSP said.

He advised people to use social media responsibly and exercise caution, ensuring that they do not inadvertently or intentionally share or engage with any content that supports anti-national activities.
SSP said a restriction order has been issued by the district magistrate Ganderbal, treating it as a cognisable offence, with the possibility of forming a panel for legal action against those violating the order.
