Authorities fail to restore electricity in Machil after recent snowfall
Kupwara, May 4: The authorities have failed to restore electricity in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after the recent snowfall in the area.
The residents have expressed strong resentment against authorities for failing to restore electricity even after the passage of eight days thus putting the residents to a lot of inconvenience.
The residents in a video message to Greater Kashmir said that the whole area has plunged into darkness due to lack of electricity in the area. “This is not the first time that we are suffering, but we are subjected to such hardships every time our area witnesses snowfall,” they added.
“The students of the area face most of the brunt. We draw on conventional means to light our houses after the sunset or use candles as authorities have failed to restore electricity in Machil,” they added.
“We have brought this issue into the notice of the concerned department numerous times for the last two days but the authorities are watching our miseries as mute spectators,” they said.
The residents also complained about a smaller number of PDD employees deployed in the area. “With fewer employees deployed in our area, the restoration always takes more time. We request the concerned authorities to deploy more employees in our area so that people may not suffer,” the residents said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Kupwara Reyaz Ahmad told Greater Kashmir that the restoration of electricity in Machil was going at full pace. He said that within a few days electricity would be restored in the area provided the weather remains favourable.
