Kupwara, Mar 29: The residents of Mudwa in Mawer area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Friday expressed strong resentment against PDD officials for failing to restore electricity after the recent heavy snowfall in the area.

The residents said that following heavy snowfall in the area the transmission infrastructure got damaged leaving them without electricity.

“We are without electricity for over a month now but the concerned authorities have not repaired the transmission structure, thereby exposing us to severe hardships,” said a local resident. “We are forced to draw on conventional means of lighting our houses after sunset. The hardships have doubled manifold in the ongoing month of Ramadhan especially at Iftar and Suhoor time,” he added.

The residents said that their pleas to the concerned department have gone unheard. They have requested higher officials including Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara Aziz Ahmad Rather to intervene, especially considering the ongoing holy month of Ramadhan, so that their sufferings may end.

Meanwhile the concerned Junior Engineer (JE) told Greater Kashmir that the required equipment have been despatched to the area and hopefully within two days, electricity would be restored in the area.
