Authorities conduct surprise inspection of food stalls at Jammu Railway Station
Jammu, Sep 26: Jammu Railway Division on Friday conducted a surprise drive to inspect food stalls to check the quality of food and beverages being sold at Jammu Railway Station.
“Indian Railways, which keeps the safety and health of passengers paramount, periodically conducts special drives to ensure the quality of food and beverages on trains and at stations. As part of this initiative, a drive was conducted today, September 26, 2025, under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal,” railway authorities stated.
All food stalls operating at the railway station were inspected as part of a routine inspection. During the inspection, it was ensured that all stalls maintained hygiene and quality standards and adhered to the prescribed rates.
Recently, Indian Railways announced a reduction in ‘Rail Neer’ prices following the reduction in GST rates. Under this move, the price of a 1-litre water bottle has been reduced from Rs 15 to Rs 14 and the price of a 500 ml water bottle from Rs 10 to Rs 9. These new rates have also been implemented on all other selected brands of water bottles sold on the railways, effective from September 22, 2025.
In the wake of this initiative, it was ensured at all stalls that Rail Neer water bottles were sold at the new rates; besides, all other water bottles should be available at all stalls at the new rates too.
Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal stated that periodic inspections would be conducted at all stations across the division. “This will ensure that all food items available at the stalls are available at the prescribed rates and are of good quality,” he said.
