Atiqa Mir secures 3rd place at Champions of Future Academy final race

Srinagar, Dec 5: Indian female karting prodigy, Atiqa Mir created history by becoming the only Indian ever to finish on the podium in the Mini U10 Category in the history of the Champions of the future Academy Program supported by F1 Academy.

A statement said that Atiqa secured the feat by finishing 3rd in the Mini U10 category at Round 6 of the prestigious global championship which attracts the world best drivers. Atiqa set a blistering lap in qualifying finishing second which is another record for an Indian.

Atiqa had to fight hard against the worlds best karters and she overcame the challenge and moved up in the Final eventually finishing in 3rd place in her category.

Speaking after the race Atiqa said, “That was a tough 2 days of racing the competition is so tight with few tenths covering the entire grid. There is no room for mistakes and it has really helped me to learn from the best in the world in equal machinery. The racing is tough but fair. I had good speed all week and am really happy to have finished in 3rd place and am thankful to F1 Academy, RGMMC, Parolin, TM Engines for all their support and for having such a world class event here”

Atiqa was also awarded a special award by Sauber Formula 1 Team for her exemplary performance with a special visit to the Kick Sauber Formula 1 Team (AUDI) at the Yas Marina Formula 1 Race this weekend at Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The performance by Atiqa further cements her place as the best female karter in the world in her age group. Atiqa has defied odds and stereotypes to move up in the male-dominated sport and raise the flag high for India. Atiqa has several accolades.
