At least 12 injured after Srinagar-bound SRTC bus overturns in Navyug tunnel
Srinagar, Mar 26: At least twelve passengers were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident inside Navyug tunnel along Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that a Srinagar-bound SRTC bus carrying passengers overturned inside Banihal Qazigun Navyug tunnel, leaving twelve passengers injured. The bus was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar.
An official said that traffic inside the tunnel has been suspended and all injured were rushed to Qazigund hospital for treatment, from where they have been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for advanced treatment.
The traffic from both sides have been restored after removing bus from the middle of tunnel, Mohammad Arif Tantray, an official of Athan Company informed.
He said earlier the traffic movement was put on halt from both ends of the tunnel and recovery van was called in to lift the bus from the scene.
It is pertinent to mention here that Athan Company is responsible for maintenance of 8.5 kilometres long Banihal-Qazigund four-lane tunnel.
