Assembly polls | Hakeem Yaseen welcomes ECI’s statement

Srinagar, May 25:  Chairman Peoples Democratic Front ( PDF ) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has welcomedthe statement of the Election Commission of India (ECI) that it will “very soon” initiate the process of holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement Yaseen said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are longing for last 10 years to have their own elected government. He said proxy governments in Jammu and Kashmir have failed on all fronts to redress the grievances of the people . “ It was very heartening to hear ECI realising that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve thier government ,”he observed adding that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have openly expressed their faith on electoral democracy by surpassing all previous records of voter turnout . He said the poll panel has been very encouraged and convinced by people's massive participation in the parliamentary polls ,which was a good omen towards holding assembly elections at the earliest.
