Srinagar, Nov 7: The ruling party legislator and the lawmaker from its alliance partner on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being habitual to create drama in the Assembly saying that it was the sign of their “frustration.”

CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that BJP has nothing else to do other than causing a ruckus in the Assembly.

“The House is meant for debate and discussion. We have been elected here by the people to discuss their issues and raise our voice on the issues they are facing. We have not been sent here to create chaos,” Tarigami told Greater Kashmir.

He said that BJP being the largest party in the country should realize that their antics are damaging Jammu and Kashmir. “After many years, we have this legitimate forum to discuss issues. We should take advantage of this opportunity to address people's issues including employment and rising prices. This chance has been given to us for these reasons, and losing this opportunity will be a great loss for us,” he said.

Talking to Greater Kashmir on the sidelines of the J&K Assembly, MLA Hazratbal Salman Sagar said that the ruling party brought a political resolution that was passed by a majority.

“We believe the BJP has nothing else to do but create this drama in the House for the next five years. They (BJP) have a habit of creating this drama,” Salman Sagar said while referring to the ruckus created by BJP lawmakers in the House over passing a resolution demanding the restoration of special status and constitutional guarantees besides working out a constitutional mechanism for restoring these provisions.

“We hope that some legislators from BJP, who have been elected for the second or third time, understand the sanctity of the House, the importance of the Speaker's orders, and the value of the resolutions passed. What's done is done; they need to accept it because we have the people’s mandate,” he said.

He said that it was the time to talk about issues affecting the people, like roads, electricity, and water in the House. “We need to discuss open merit and reservation issues. Reservation is a burning issue where open merit is being sacrificed. This needs to be discussed,” he said.

He said that lawmakers should focus on these issues on the last day of the ongoing session and in upcoming sessions as well.

When asked about the People's Conference statement that the resolution brought by the ruling party was a half hearted attempt, Salman Sagar said that Sajad Lone and Waheed Ur Rehman Parra were part of the BJP alliance government. “They were partners with the BJP and they destroyed everything here, for which we are fighting and want to reclaim. We lost it because of them. They should not sermonize us too much because we know their role,” he said.

He said that whatever has been snatched from Kashmir, they will get it back through a proper way. “We are on track to reclaim it,” he said.
