Ask the Doctor
Q: My hands and feet are always cold, even indoors. Should I worry?
A: Cold extremities can be due to poor circulation, anemia, thyroid imbalance, or low body weight. Keep warm, stay active, eat iron-rich food, and consult your doctor if it persists.
Q: I feel tired all the time though my tests are normal. What could be wrong?
A: Fatigue can stem from sleep issues, stress, vitamin D deficiency, excessive screen time or even dehydration. Maintain proper sleep, mindful use of smart phone, outdoor activity, balanced diet and hydration—get your vitamin levels checked.
Q: I often forget small things lately. Is this early memory loss?
A: Not always. Stress, poor sleep, or multitasking can cloud recall. Practice mindfulness, reduce screen use and ensure proper rest. If forgetfulness worsens, seek medical evaluation.
Q: Is it safe to take painkillers frequently for headaches?
A: No. Overuse can cause “rebound headaches” and kidney or stomach issues. Identify the cause like dehydration, eye strain, or stress, and manage naturally where possible.
Q: I sit at my desk all day. Can that affect my heart?
A: Yes. Prolonged sitting slows metabolism and raises heart risk. Take a 5-minute walk every hour, stretch, and add 30 minutes of brisk activity daily.
Q: My 10th-class son uses his mobile phone constantly. What problems can this cause?
A: Excessive mobile use can affect eyesight, concentration, sleep, and mental health. It may cause neck strain (“text neck”), anxiety, and reduced academic focus. Encourage screen-free study hours, outdoor play, and digital discipline at home.
Q: Does sleeping after lunch cause weight gain?
A: A short nap (20–30 min) doesn’t harm. But lying down immediately after a heavy meal can cause reflux. Walk briefly before resting.
Q: Can overthinking cause stomach problems?
A: Yes. Anxiety affects gut motility and acid levels. Meditation, faith based activities, deep breathing or journaling can calm the “second brain” — your gut.
Q: Is it true that skipping dinner helps in weight loss?
A: Skipping meals slows metabolism and triggers overeating later. Eat light, early dinners, soups, salads or boiled veggies are best.
Q: How can I boost my immunity naturally this winter?
A: Eat seasonal fruits, turmeric milk, garlic and nuts. Get sunlight for vitamin D, sleep well, and avoid overuse of gadgets.
