The programme is the Government of India’s flagship initiative aimed at reversing the community’s demographic decline through assisted childbirth, counselling, and family welfare interventions.

Held at the Convocation Hall of Mumbai University, the workshop brought together senior officials, beneficiaries, and community representatives for a detailed discussion on making the scheme more accessible, efficient, and citizen-centric.

NMDFC officials briefed community members on low-interest loans available for entrepreneurship, start-ups, and small businesses – encouraging Parsis to make use of financial support options aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting economic self-reliance.

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), which is conducting a comprehensive assessment of the Jiyo Parsi Scheme, presented key research findings on demographic patterns, programme impact, and future strategies.

The evidence-based insights are expected to guide the next phase of policymaking as the government works to address one of India’s most acute population challenges among minority groups.

Reaffirming its commitment to preserving the cultural and demographic vitality of the Parsi community, the Ministry of Minority Affairs said it will continue strengthening schemes, deepening outreach, and supporting families through targeted interventions.

Through Jiyo Parsi and related initiatives, the government reiterated its resolve to protect the community’s heritage while ensuring its long-term socio-economic well-being.
