Srinagar, Nov 23: The J&K Higher Education Department (HED) has opened the admission portal afresh amid the decline in admission of students in degree colleges.

As per the official document, the Director Colleges J&K in an official communication has communicated to the college principal to give wide publicity to the decision that the Centralised Samarth Admission Portal which has been reopened for fresh admissions for students.

As per the official communication, the admission portal has been reopened afresh for the students who qualified the 10 2 bi-annual examination recently and those who missed earlier admission opportunities for “any reason”.

“The portal will remain open for candidate registrations from November 21 to November 28 of 2024,” the official communication reads.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Director Colleges J&K Prof Sheikh Aijaz Bashir said the admission portal has been kept open as around 13000 students recently qualified the bi-annual class 12th examination. “This admission will be a good opportunity for the students who did not appear in CUET earlier,” he said.

The Director colleges has also instructed the college principals to establish a dedicated admission help desk that will be operational during college hours to assist students in the application process.

“You are required to prepare merit lists from the Samarth portal every two days and inform students about their selection status promptly. Complete the document verification process for students who finalise their admission immediately, and generate the fee link for these candidates,” the official communication read.

It further reads that the college principals should ensure that admissions are conducted strictly based on seat availability and the intake capacity defined by the Higher Education Department (HED).

“Ensure that the backlog of academic delivery for fresh admissions is addressed in a firm manner on priority from available resources,” it reads.

The HED has further stated that the decision to reopen the admission portal was made following a request from you regarding fresh admission seekers. “Therefore, you (college principals) are requested to ensure that the window of opportunity is utilised well to ensure admissions within the timelines. I appreciate your concern for fresh admission seekers and look forward to your active participation in this important initiative,” it reads.
