Aryans Group of Colleges organises blood donation camp

Srinagar, Sep 10: A blood donation camp was organised by Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh.

Dr Harjinder Singh Bedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Patiala inaugurated the camp as chief guest while Dr Jatinder Kansal, Civil Surgeon Patiala was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over. The donors were honored with medals and certificates. 51 units of blood were collected in this camp.

A 10 member team of blood transfusion from Rajindra Hospital, Patiala conducted a thorough medical checkup of voluntary and eligible donors to donate blood. Medical guidance and prescription was given to the students, parents, faculty members and local residents of nearby villages.

ADC, Dr Bedi praised Aryans selfless efforts in organising blood donation camps, calling it a significant contribution to humanitarian service. He exhorted people to come forward to contribute to the cause and save lives. Also, by donating blood, the demand supply gap at the blood banks could be minimised, he said. He urged students to launch a rigorous campaign in making people aware of blood donation.

Civil Surgeon, Patiala, Dr Kansal while emphasising the importance of blood donation during the camp said that blood donation is one of the best donations through which"we can help the needy people" and save their lives. Collected blood would be utilised for two or three patients requiring a special component like red cells, platelets and plasma. He expressed gratitude to donors and volunteers.

Chairman, Aryans Group, Dr Anshu Kataria, while motivating the students, said that Aryans Group has been organising blood donation and free health camp for the last 18 years under its Corporate Social Responsibility. Kataria said that a person can save 3 lives from 1 unit of blood and these camps not only provide blood to the blood banks but also are a great boon to the thalassemia and leukemia patients who need blood infusions frequently.

Principal, Aryans Institute of Nursing, Kamlesh Rani, said that the aim of the blood donation camp was to inculcate moral values among the students and to inculcate a sense of social responsibility in them.
