ARTO Baramulla cracks down on traffic violations, recovers Rs 31,500 in fines
Sopore, June 21: In a district-wide crackdown on traffic violations, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Baramulla, led by Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, conducted an extensive enforcement drive across multiple routes on Friday, recovering Rs 31,500 in on-spot fines.
The drive, aimed at ensuring road safety and strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act, spanned several key locations including Baramulla town, GMC road, Rafiabad, Chandoosa, Wagoora, Kalantra, and Puthkhah. Officers conducted document checks, monitored rule violations, and enforced vehicle safety norms.
As a result of the operation, documents of eight vehicles were seized for further scrutiny, while four vehicles were blacklisted due to serious violations.
ARTO Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi said the initiative was part of a larger campaign to instill discipline among drivers and reduce road accidents. “The objective is to enhance road safety and ensure that all vehicle owners and drivers strictly follow traffic norms,” he said. He also announced that such enforcement drives would continue on a regular basis.
Sofi urged all motorists to carry valid documents and abide by traffic rules. “Responsible driving is not just a legal obligation but a moral duty to safeguard lives,” he said.
