ARTO Anantnag suspends 15 driving licenses in road safety drive

Anantnag, Oct. 25: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) in Anantnag has suspended 15 driving licenses as part of an ongoing road safety enforcement drive.

"Authorities inspected 159 vehicles at multiple locations across the district, " an official said.

He said several vehicles were found operating with safety violations, including worn-out tires, defective brakes, and overloading.

"The ARTO acted under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, suspending licenses for repeated and serious violations that threaten road safety", an official said.

He said drivers were counseled on maintaining their vehicles in roadworthy condition. "Vehicle owners were also advised to replace tires on time and follow all Central Motor Vehicle Rules to avoid future action," an official said.

The ARTO said such inspections will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance with road safety standards across Anantnag district.
