Arrangements for keeping Sonamarg open during winters reviewed

Kangan, Nov 23: In view of the upcoming winter season and preparedness for keeping Sonamarg tourist destination open during winters, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Kangan Javid Ahmad Rather on Thursday held a meeting with the officials here.

SDM Kangan chaired a meeting of officers to review the winter preparedness of line departments for winters in the sub division Kangan. During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held regarding availability of snow clearance machines, establishing of Joint Control Room and action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption of essential services during inclement weather.

SDM Kangan impressed upon the officers to remain available at Tehsil headquarters for prompt response to the public grievances and for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations in the district. SDM Kangan also reviewed the preparedness and arrangements for keeping Sonamarg tourist destination open during winters. SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan, Tehsildar Kangan, Haroon Rashid, Tehsildar Gund Javid Iqbal, representatives of MEIL and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
