New Delhi, Oct 13: Around a hundred rockets were fired at northern Israel, from Lebanon according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). In the north of the town of Jadeidi-Makr, two people suffered minor injuries from one of these rocket attacks. Additionally, on Saturday, the IDF reported intercepting two drones that had been launched from Lebanon towards Israel.

On Sunday, Israel’s military intercepted approximately five projectiles fired from Lebanon, media reported. Sirens sounded across northern Israel, including in Haifa. On Saturday, Hizbollah fired 320 projectiles from Lebanon into Israel, per the IDF.

Friday saw two drones launched from Lebanon into central Israel, one of which hit a senior citizens'home in Herzliya, though no casualties were reported. T

The Lebanese army reported that an Israeli strike on an army post in southern Lebanon on Friday killed two Lebanese soldiers and wounded three others.

In response to the escalating violence, the IDF declared several villages in western Galilee as a closed military zone. Israeli airstrikes targeted areas in southern Lebanon, including the city of Nabatieh and the Bekaa Valley.

The IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, urged residents in southern Lebanese villages to evacuate north of the Awali River, warning that those near Hizbollah’s weapons or facilities were at risk.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that since October 8, 2,225 people have been killed and 10,524 wounded in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, media reported that the U.S. is preparing to deploy the THAAD missile defence system to Israel in anticipation of potential retaliatory attacks from Iran.

There is no set date for the deployment. Reports suggest that while Israel may not strike Iran's nuclear sites in response to Tehran’s recent missile attack, military targets and energy infrastructure could be considered for future strikes.

In Syria, the IDF reported that a drone launched from the country crashed in the northern Golan Heights on Friday night, causing no casualties.

In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes on Saturday and overnight killed at least 29 people in the central and northern regions, according to medics cited by Reuters. A week earlier, the IDF launched an offensive in Jabalia, moving in with tanks to target Hamas infrastructure. Palestinian health officials estimate that 150 people have been killed in the area over the past week.

Hizbollah claimed it was engaging Israeli forces trying to advance into Ramiya village in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese health ministry reported that 15 additional people were killed in three Israeli strikes in Deir Bella, Al Maaysra, and Barja on Sunday. Five hospitals in Baalbek and the Bekaa Valley sustained damage from Israeli airstrikes.
