Army using advanced UAVs for surveillance, tracking in woods of Rajouri, Poonch
Rajouri, Oct 30: Army has stepped up all the ongoing anti-militancy operations across Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to track and neutralise the militants.
The militants are involved in different actions including recent attacks at Akhnoor that took place on Monday morning in which an army convoy was fired upon.
It is being believed that a number of militant groups are presently hiding in dense forests and tough mountain reaches of both Kashmir valley as well as Jammu province and these groups also carried out a number of attacks recently like Gagangir attack at Sonamarg in Kashmir and Budhpatri attack in Gulmarg Kashmir.
Army has scaled up the ongoing operations in order to track and neutralise the militants.
Besides manual operational action, the army is also inculcating technical practices at advanced level to make the operations successful. Under this, army is regularly using Switch UAV, an advanced UAV, in ongoing operations in different areas across JK, they said.
This Mini Switch UAV is considered to be advanced as well as efficient for army to use in operations due to various reasons that include it's advanced surveillance equipment, long fly time of 2.5 hours, long use range upto 15 kilometres. The use of these UAVs is helping army to keep a very close vigil even on inaccessible dense forests and tough mountain ridges where manual surveillance is not possible, said officials.
Besides, this UAV is night vision enabled and thus helpful for carrying out anti militancy operations even in night, officials said.
