Srinagar, Dec 28: The Army’s Chinar Warriors sprang into action after an emergency distress call from the civil administration regarding tourists stranded at the snow-laden tourist destination of Gulmarg.

Overwhelmed by unprecedented heavy snowfall, the main road to Tangmarg was rendered inaccessible, leaving numerous visitors stranded.

In a swift and coordinated operation, the Chinar Warriors successfully evacuated 68 tourists, including 30 women, 30 men, and eight children. The Army extended further assistance by providing hot meals, shelter, and medical aid to a total of 137 stranded tourists, ensuring their safety and comfort amid the challenging weather conditions.

“#ChinarWarriors to the Rescue.Chinar Warriors responded to a distress call from civil administration to evacuate tourists stranded due to unprecedented heavy snowfall in tourist destination of Gulmarg and the subsequent closure of the road to Tanmarg. Providing assistance in evacuation of 68 civilians including 30 ladies, 30 gentlemen and 08 children along with provisioning of hot meals, shelter & medication for a total of 137 tourists. Indian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to serve the Nation and its citizens,” Chinar Corps-Indian Army said in a post on X.

In another effort, the Chinar Warriors responded to a distress call from Munad village in Kulgam district to rescue a pregnant woman in urgent need of medical care. Braving heavy snowfall and treacherous terrain, the rescue team reached the remote village in time.

The team extended immediate life-saving medical assistance and ensured the patient’s safe evacuation to the Government Hospital in Yaripora, where she received the necessary care.
