Srinagar, Feb 23: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar and Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain Friday called for increased synergy between Army and Police for continuing peace and stability in J&K.

During their interaction held here at 15 Corps headquarters at Badami Bagh in Srinagar, they discussed the overall prevailing security situation in J&K and preparations for the coming months.

The meeting was also attended by GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai and senior officers of other security agencies.

The interaction between Lt Gen Kumar and DGP Swain highlighted the close collaboration between the Army and security agencies in addressing security concerns.

It underscored the joint efforts being made to maintain peace and stability in J&K.

During the meeting, Lt Gen Kumar and DGP Swain reviewed the current security scenario in J&K and discussed measures to strengthen security arrangements.

They emphasised the need for increased synergy and cooperation between the Police and the Army to effectively counter any security threats.

“Forging integration and synergy Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Kumar, interacted with DGP R R Swain and other senior dignitaries of all the agencies. The discussion revolved around increased synergy and the security preparation for the coming months,” the Northern Command-Indian Army posted on X with pictures of the meeting.

Though there were no other official details about the meeting, officials said, “The meeting focused on enhancing synergy and bolstering security preparations for the upcoming months.”

They said that the upcoming parliamentary elections and annual Amarnath Yatra were discussed threadbare.

During the meeting, the participants discussed various aspects of security, including the current situation in J&K and measures to further strengthen security arrangements.

Lt Gen Kumar and DGP Swain emphasised the importance of coordination and cooperation among all security agencies to effectively tackle any security challenges that might arise.

“The discussions also covered the deployment of security forces, intelligence sharing, and joint operations to maintain peace and stability in J&K,” officials said. “Both the senior officers stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of alertness and readiness to respond to any emerging security challenges.”

They said that Lt Gen Kumar and DGP Swain expressed confidence in the capabilities of the security forces and their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of J&K.

They also underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination with other security agencies and the civil administration to achieve common security objectives.

The meeting also provided a platform for the exchange of ideas to enhance overall security in J&K.

Lt Gen Kumar reiterated the Army’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of J&K and its people.

Meanwhile, the Northern Commander visited some formations along the Line of Control (LoC).

“Lt Gen Kumar along with Chinar Corps Commander visited formations along the LoC. He was briefed on the latest operational preparedness and capability augmentation. He interacted with the troops and complimented them for their steadfastness in foiling infiltration bids along LoC,” the Northern Command-Indian Army posted on X.
