Poonch, Apr 5: General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knights Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva and J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain Friday co-chaired a joint security review meeting at Poonch to “discuss smooth and synergized operations and maintain peace and security in the sub-region, given the ongoing situation and upcoming events.”

As per an official statement, DGP was accompanied by ADGP Jammu zone Anand Jain and Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar as they took stock of the security situation at Poonch.

Other senior officers who attended the meeting included GOC Romeo Force Maj Gen Manish Gupta; GOC Ace of Spades Division Maj Gen Gaurav Rishi; DIG RP range Tejinder Singh; Deputy Commissioner Poonch Yasin Choudhary and Additional SP Poonch Mushim Ahmed and senior officers from intelligence agencies.

“Discussion on the overall security situation in the region took place during this important meeting. Threadbare deliberations were made to bust Over Ground Worker (OGW) modules by arresting OGWs besides emphasis upon speeding up the anti-terror operations; strengthening of anti-infiltration grid and synergy among the security forces,” a statement issued by police said.

Special stress was also laid for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha elections 2024, police said.

Later, DGP along with other senior officers also visited the forward areas, including Degwar, on Line of Control (LoC) where he was briefed on the overall situation by field Commanding Officers.

Police further stated that another meeting was later convened in the District Police Office Poonch where a detailed presentation was given by Additional SP Poonch Mushim Ahmed on the present security scenario; law and order; militancy and election preparedness.

DGP laid stress on strengthening the intelligence network on the ground and working out to crack OGW networks besides basic policing and vigorous work against the narco terror channels.

He had detailed feedback regarding the security measures taken for the conduct of smooth and peaceful general elections in 2024.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Army, CRPF, other sister agencies and the senior officers of District Police Poonch.
