Army opens fire after suspicious movement near LoC Akhnoor

Rajouri, Aug 05: Army resorted to area domination firing after picking a suspicious movement in an area located near Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sub division of Jammu district.

The area falls under Sunderbani sector of LoC as per Army's territorial limits but is in Khour police station of Akhnoor sub division in police jurisdiction limits.

Official sources said that army troops on LoC picked up a suspicious movement in Hassan Nalla area near Jogwan in Akhnoor sub division after which they challenged the movement and finally resorted to domination fire at Assan Nallah.

The area where the incident of firing took place last night is having civilian population around. The people of this area also informed police about the incident of firing after which a team of police from Khour police station reached the site.

A cordon was placed in and around the area by army and police after which search operation was launched that lasted till Monday evening. Entire area was thoroughly frisked by search teams which security vigil in this area is still heightened amid apprehension of suspicious movement and presence.
