Rajouri, May 16: Located ahead of Anti Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS) and just few meters behind the last posts of army, the Dabbi village in Mendhar sub division in Poonch district has got installed some solar-powered lights installed by army to provide succor to the villagers.

The project was undertaken under operation “Sadhbhavana” to give aid to villagers as this forward area on LoC lacked street lights. To improve the living conditions in Dabbi village, solar-powered lights have been installed in areas frequented by locals to further augment the electrification process of their village, the officials of army said.

The residents now have uninterrupted lighting in the public place areas like mosques, Pir Baba, natural water well. The villagers praised the army for the initiative and said the solar lights had not only illuminated their village but also lit up their lives. "Electricity poles and wires installed here in 1990s by civil department and these are outdated now and mostly develop technical snag,” said local Imam Mohammad Sarfaraz who said that power crisis is the biggest challenge before people but installation of these solar lights are designated places of public use will aid people in many ways.
