Army hosts inter-panchayat cricket tournament in Rajouri

Rajouri, Aug 10: As part of pre-Independence Day celebrations, the Army organised a three-day inter-panchayat cricket tournament from August 8 to 10, 2024, in the border villages of Nowshera. The event, held under Operation Sadbhavna, aimed to promote sports, physical fitness, and camaraderie among local youth.

Four teams from various villages participated in the competition, showcasing their cricket skills and competitive spirit. After several exciting matches, the tournament culminated in a thrilling final between Gagrote and Bareri village teams. Gagrote emerged victorious in a closely contested match.

The Army felicitated both the winning team and all participants at the conclusion of the tournament.

This initiative reflects the Army's ongoing efforts to engage with border communities and foster a spirit of sportsmanship and unity.

The event not only provided a platform for young cricketers to display their talents but also served as a prelude to the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, reinforcing the bond between the Army and local residents in this border region, the statement said
