Army grieved over loss of 5 soldiers in Poonch accident
Jammu, Dec 25: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and all ranks of Indian Army Wednesday expressed grief on the loss of five soldiers in a tragic road accident, while on operational duty, along the Line of Control in Poonch sector on December 24.
Extending condolences, the army, in an official statement, said that it stood firm with the bereaved families in the hour of grief.
“#GeneralUpendraDwivedi #COAS and All Ranks of #IndianArmy express profound grief on the loss of Subedar Dayanand Tirakannavar, Lance Havildar Anoop, Naik Ghadge Shubham Samadhan, Sepoy Nikure Digamber and Sep Mahesh Marigond in a tragic and unfortunate road accident, while on operational duty in #Poonch, J&K,” ADG-PI-Indian Army posted on ‘X’.
“Indian Army extends its deepest condolences and stands firm with the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” it added. Five army personnel were killed in the accident while five others sustained critical injuries on Tuesday evening when a vehicle, part of an army convoy of six vehicles plying on the operational track near Poonch LoC, went off the road into a nullah.
