Army felicitates meritorious students of Poonch, Rajouri

Rajouri, June 24: Army on Monday felicitated meritorious children of Rajouri and Poonch districts who have excelled in different examinations bringing laurels for the society.

The Army in its official statement said that children are the future of "our country, and they can only contribute to ‘Nation Building’, if their ability to make rational and informed decisions are well developed."

"This depends on how well they are educated and groomed and Poonch and Rajouri are one of the most sensitive areas in Jammu and Kashmir, and education plays a vital role in nation building, and minimising influence of militancy."

"To acknowledge and honour outstanding academic performance, seventeen meritorious children were shortlisted from different villages in the area of responsibility of Indian Army," said army adding that these children along with their proud parents were invited and felicitated in an event organised by Indian Army.

An informal interactive session was also organised where children and the parents shared their ideas with all ranks.

As part of the event, the children and their parents were also given an insight on various education institutions of India such as Rashtriya Indian Military College, Sainik schools and military schools.

This was received with great enthusiasm by the children and their parents.

"The event was very well received by the people and such an attempt towards a nation building cause will go a long way in reinforcing a good and healthy civil-military relations," Army said.
