Srinagar, Sep 3: As water levels surged and communication lines were severed, the Army, particularly the Chinar Warriors, launched a swift and decisive rescue and relief operation across the worst-hit areas.

With some village parts submerged and residents stranded in inundated homes, Army columns were mobilized at short notice from forward bases. Braving harsh weather , the soldiers moved in with rescue boats, medical teams, and essential supplies. The worst-affected areas included parts of Anantnag, Kulgam, and Pulwama districts.

Responding to distress calls from local authorities and residents, the troops evacuated dozens of families trapped by rising waters. Children, the elderly, and those with medical needs were given priority and airlifted or transported to higher ground.

The Army set up temporary shelters and distributed food, drinking water, and blankets to those displaced. Medical teams accompanied rescue squads, providing first aid and emergency care to those injured or ill. Army doctors treated several cases of hypothermia, dehydration, and trauma.

In many areas where civilian access was impossible, Army engineers worked tirelessly to clear debris, restore footbridges, and reconnect lifelines cut off by landslides. The operation was conducted in close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir civil administration and disaster response teams.
