Army Commander visits Basantgarh, Dharmund
Jammu, Dec 26: Army Commander Northern Command Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kuma Thursday conducted a visit of remote Basantgarh as well as Dharmund areas to asses the security situation as well as operational preparedness.
He was accompanied by General Officer in Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps Lt Gen Naveen Sachdeva as well as General Officer in Commanding (GOC) Counter Insurgency Force - Delte during the visit.
Lt Gen Kumar visited Basantgarh area which is a remote location in Udhampur district and has witnessed more than half a dozen terror related incidents in last one year.
Besides, the Army Commander also visited Dharmund military garrison.
During these visits, officials said, Army Commander Northern Command Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar reviewed prevailing security situation in the areas.
He also met with locals field commanders who briefed the Army Commander about operational preparedness as well as ongoing operations.
Pertinent to mention here that in Chenab valley areas, large scale anti terror operations are going on since last one year after over one dozen terror related incidents in the valley that comprises on Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts.
Alongside it, the Basantgarh area of Udhampur and Machedi and Bani in Kathua also fall adjacent to Chenab valley and many terror incidents have taken places in these two areas in last one year creating a situation of security concern.
