Army Chief visits forward units in Kathua, reviews security
Jammu, Nov 9: The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi Saturday visited forward units in Kathua to take stock of the existing security situation and operational readiness of troops.
Army Chief also interacted with troops deployed in forward units of Rising Star Corps in Kathua and lauded them for their dedication and professionalism.
“GeneralUpendraDwivedi, #COAS visited forward units of @RisingStarCorps deployed in #Kathua (J&K) & was briefed on the existing security situation. #COAS also interacted with troops & commended them for their high standards of professionalism & devotion to duty,” ADGPI-Indian Army posted on ‘X’.
Earlier on Friday, Gen Dwivedi, during his visit to the Western Command, had toured forward operational areas in the Kathua-Pathankot sector. According to the army spokesperson, he had an official briefing by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Yol-based Rising Star Corps on the prevailing security situation and the operational readiness of the troops stationed there.
“Army Chief commended the personnel of Rising Star Corps for their professionalism and the recent success in counter-terrorism operations in the region, recognising their exemplary performance in ensuring the safety and security of the area,” Army spokesperson had said.
During his visit to the Western Command on Friday, Gen Dwivedi had asked the senior military leadership to stay well-informed about global geopolitical developments, reinforcing the need to continuously strengthen the Indian Army’s readiness to counter evolving threats from adversaries.
He had commended the professionalism of troops and the recent success in counter-terrorism operations in the region. Army Chief was briefed on various key operational, training, logistical and administrative aspects critical to the Command’s effectiveness by GOC-in-Chief Western Command.
