Army Chief reviews operational readiness in central sector

New Delhi, Oct 20: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi visited forward posts in the central sector to review operational preparedness, motivate troops, and strengthen civil-military cooperation in strategically important high-altitude areas.

During the visit, General Dwivedi reviewed formations deployed in Pithoragarh and adjoining posts, where he was briefed on ongoing capability upgrades, including advanced surveillance systems, mobility platforms, and integration of next-generation technologies.

Commending the troops for their professionalism and dedication in difficult conditions, the Army Chief reiterated the force’s readiness to counter emerging security challenges. He also interacted with veterans and local communities, extending Diwali greetings and appreciating their contribution to national security.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the Kumaon region, General Dwivedi reviewed community initiatives under Operation Sadbhavna and the Vibrant Village Programme, covering infrastructure, renewable energy, medical outreach, and livelihood support. Concluding his visit, the Army Chief reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to operational excellence and to fostering civil-military harmony in the border areas.
