Arms, ammunition recovered from graveyard at Natipora
Srinagar, Dec 16: Police on Monday night recovered a Chinese-made hand grenade, live ammunition and other incriminating material from a graveyard in the Tar Natipora area of Srinagar, officials said.
The recovery was made during the intervening night as part of an ongoing investigation into FIR No. 119/2025 registered at Police Station Bemina under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
A police team headed by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) West, comprising the Station House Officer (SHO) Bemina, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and the Naib Tehsildar, and assisted by personnel from Police Station Chanapora, conducted a search operation at the graveyard in Tar Natipora.
During the operation, the team recovered one Chinese hand grenade, 10 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition, approximately 100 grams of gunpowder and 20 posters. All recoveries were made in the presence of the concerned officials, following due legal procedure, police said.
Officials stated that the seized material has been taken into custody and will be subjected to a detailed forensic examination to ascertain its origin and intended use. The area was secured during the operation to ensure the safety of civilians.
