Armed Forces Flag Day: LG hails armed forces’ role in J&K’s growth, security

He appealed to the people of J&K, particularly the privileged sections of society, to donate liberally to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, as a token of remembrance and expression of gratitude.

Jammu, Dec 7: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday hailed the role of the armed forces in the growth and security of Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the Army’s contribution in securing the borders.

Speaking at the Armed Forces Flag Day at Raj Bhavan where the Armed Forces flag was pinned to mark the occasion, the LG expressed his gratitude and appreciation by contributing to the ‘Armed Forces Flag Day Fund’ to honour the bravery and sacrifices of the soldiers, sailors, and airmen.

“Our armed forces have always remained at the forefront, ever ready to serve the nation with commitment, dedication, and ready to render valuable service during natural calamities,” he said. “In J&K, the Army has been playing a crucial role in combating terrorism and providing a secure environment for people, particularly those who live along the borders and in the remote and far-flung areas.”

The LG said that with the immense contribution of the armed forces, J&K had entered a historic fast-track path of socio-economic growth and that they were working with dedication to ensure that the fruits of development reach every corner of J&K.

“I convey my best wishes to all serving and retired armed forces personnel and their families on the occasion of the Armed Forces Flag Day,” LG Sinha said.

Director, Sainik Welfare Department, J&K, Brig (Retd) Gurmeet Singh Shan briefed the LG on various schemes and initiatives for the welfare of veterans, wives of soldiers, dependents, and serving armed forces personnel.

Col (Retd) B S Sambyal; Col (Retd) S S Assla; Col (Retd) MS Bhau; Wing Commander (Retd) Tirath Singh; Subhash Chander; Suresh Kumar, and veterans including Bawa Singh; Ashwani Kumar; Ashok Kumar; Janak Singh and Rajinder Kumar were also present on the occasion.
