Areas suspected of being used for drug-related activities raided in Handwara: Police

Handwara, Oct 06: In its continued efforts to curb the menace of drugs, Handwara Police today carried out special raids at various identified drug hotspot locations across Police District Handwara.

The raids, according to officials were conducted by different police parties under the supervision of senior officers. During the operation, multiple areas suspected of being used for drug-related activities were searched thoroughly.

They said that police have made it clear that strict action will be taken against drug peddlers and persons found involved in promoting or supporting the drug trade. The raids are part of the sustained drive of Handwara Police to safeguard the youth and society from the harmful effects of drugs.

SSP Handwara Mushtaq Choudhary reiterated that such operations will continue in the future with more intensity. They also urged the general public to extend their cooperation by sharing information about drug peddling or abuse and maintained that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.

Handwara police remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and will continue its efforts to ensure a drug-free and safe society, officials added.
