Arbitrator appointed to adjudicate Richa Chadda dispute
New Delhi, Oct 29: The Supreme Court has appointed an arbitrator to adjudicate a dispute involving foreign film producers and Bollywood actress Richa Chadda.
UK-based film producers have approached the Supreme Court for the appointment of an arbitrator under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 to resolve the dispute with actress Richa Chadda concerning an alleged breach of the artist agreement.
With the consent of both parties, the Apex Court appointed retired Justice S.J. Kathawalla as the arbitrator.
The UK-based producers were represented by the Delhi-based AOR firm, SS Rana and Co., in the Supreme Court.
According to the firm, arbitration is “an effective alternative dispute resolution technique that ensures a speedy resolution of disputes, with the resulting award being binding on both parties.”
