Apply newly acquired skills in operational deployments: DGP
Jammu, Apr 3: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat has exhorted the JKP personnel, who have successfully completed the two-month-long “Anti-extremist tactics course” to "apply newly acquired skills in operational deployments." DGP was addressing gathering in a felicitation ceremony organized at the DPL Conference Hall, Jammu, to mark the successful completion of the second batch of the two-month-long “Anti-extremist tactics course” for the personnel of the Jammu zone. He underscored the significance of such specialized courses in strengthening the counter-extremism capabilities of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. DGP further urged the trained personnel to apply their newly acquired skills in operational deployments to ensure the safety and security of the region. The top cop of J&K lauded the dedication and commitment of the personnel in completing the strenuous training.
Senior officers, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti; Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Training, Sarah Rizvi; AIG Training, M K Pandita; SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh; SP Operations Jammu, Kameshwar Puri and SO to IGP Jammu, Vishal Manhas attended the event. The specialised training programme, conducted at the Greyhounds Regional Training Centre, Visakhapatnam, aimed to equip the personnel with advanced skills in countering extremist activities, preparing them for real-world challenges in combating terrorism and insurgency.Over the course of two months, the trainees honed their skills in various tactical and operational disciplines to enhance their combat readiness and operational effectiveness.
The training module covered a wide array of critical areas, including intensive “close quarters combat” drills to sharpen reflexes and efficiency in high-stress environments; proficiency in weapons handling and tactical manoeuvres to effectively neutralise threats; operations focusing on urban warfare and built-up area engagements; advanced cordon and search techniques; surveillance and covert operations training in intelligence gathering, protracted surveillance and ambush tactics. Rigorous obstacle training and endurance-building exercises to enhance agility, resilience and combat fitness; emergency first aid techniques for handling battlefield injuries and medical emergencies; mental fortitude and tactical discipline training to ensure psychological resilience and precision in high-pressure scenarios also formed part of the training module.
The IGP Jammu also addressed the gathering, commending the trainees for their perseverance and expressing confidence in their ability to handle critical situations with a high level of professionalism. Among those recognised for their outstanding performance was Constable Mohd Farooq (No ARP-237247, district Kathua), who was awarded “All-round best” among the trainees. Other notable achievers were SPO Sachen Kumar (No 1867/SPO, district Doda) ‘All-Round Best in PPT’; Constable Mohd Naseem (No ARP-237571, district Poonch), All-Round Best in BOAC and PSI Sanjay Kumar (EXJ/196630), ‘All-Round 3rd position in written examination.’ Their remarkable performance and dedication were lauded by the dignitaries present at the event.
