Apni Party's Altaf Bukhari Criticizes Hike in Electricity Bills, Urges LG Admin for Intervention
Srinagar, Jun 21 : Altaf Bukhari, President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, has strongly criticized Power Development Department (PDD) for unfair increase in electricity bills across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Bukhari while taking to microblogging site 'X', as per news agency Kashmir Scroll, highlighted the significant hike in electricity charges, 'with monthly bills rising from Rs 500 to Rs 1050 in some areas, and from Rs 900 to as high as Rs 2100 in others.'
Bukhari accused the PDD of targeting poor residents to cover their inefficiencies in managing transmission losses. "People in rural as well as urban areas are suffering due to these exorbitant electricity charges," Bukhari said, while calling the situation a form of harassment towards the economically vulnerable population of Jammu & Kashmir.
He urged the Lieutenant Governor's administration to intervene and ensure that the burden of administrative failures does not fall on the shoulders of poor section. "This harassment to poor people of J&K must stop immediately!" Bukhari said.
