Apni Party condemns hindering of party meeting
Srinagar, Aug 05: Apni Party has strongly condemned the administration for preventing its leaders from assembling at their party headquarters on Monday morning.
According to a press release, the party leadership had planned to meet at their headquarters on M2 Church Lane in Srinagar to deliberate on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. However, police deployed at the main entrance of the party headquarters prevented the leaders from entering the office premises. Apni Party has strongly condemned this act of the administration and termed it “undemocratic.”
The press release said, “Apni Party leaders planned to convene a meeting to discuss the current political scenario and deliberate on the 5th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. However, the police prevented them from assembling at the party headquarters. We strongly condemn this undemocratic act.”
“Five years ago, on this day, the central government unilaterally passed the J&K Reorganisation Act, revoking the special constitutional position of the erstwhile state and bifurcating it into two Union Territories. This occurrence will always be remembered as a great injustice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, Apni Party has strongly urged the central government to fulfil its promise regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir without any further delay.
