Srinagar, Oct 25: The Disciplinary/ Anti-ragging Committee of Government Dental College (GDC) and Hospital Srinagar organised a programme under the patronage of Prof Dr Ajaz A Shah Principal / Dean.

Dr Shazana Nazir Qazi, Associate Professor and Convener, Dr Roobal Behal , Dr Fayaz Ahangar , Dr Nameeta Kaur and Dr Shafia Sarfi, members of the Anti-ragging Committee, organised the event aimed at apprising the students about ill-effects of ragging menace.

The programme was attended by members of the Anti-Ragging Committee, Chief Warden, Boys / Girls Hostel Wardens and the Counsellor of GDC Srinagar. At the outset the participants, which included all the Undergraduate and Post Graduate students were accorded a warm reception. Later Principal/ Dean laid stress on the importance of anti-ragging modules and the Supreme Court guidelines.

A short orientation video displaying ragging as a menace was shown, soon after which the convener Dr Shazana Nazir Qazi delivered an Orientation lecture. The Counselor of the College Dr Ashiq Ali who is also the Deputy Warden shared his memories as a fresher. The students were also invited to share their experiences of their life in the College campus. “The programme successfully created awareness about the negative impacts of ragging and encouraged students to promote a culture of respect and empathy,” Dr Shahzana said.

Around 250 plus participated in the day-long programme ending with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
