ANTF Kashmir arrests drug peddler

Srinagar, Aug 2: The Anti Narcotics Task Force Kashmir has arrested a drug peddler here.

According to a statement issued by the Agency, it said that the ANTF received a specific information that one notorious drug peddler Rouf Bhat, of Churumujru Beerwah Budgam has concealed contraband poppy straw in the premises of his under construction residential house located at Churumujru Beerwah Budgam for its sale among other drug peddlers of Kashmir valley.

In order to carry out the search of the said premises a case FIR No-02/2024 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act registered in police station ANTF Kashmir and the team of officials was constituted under the command of DySp ANTF Kashmir under the overall supervision of SSP ANTF J&K.

During a search of the premises 61.9 kilograms of contraband concealed by the drug peddler Rouf Bhat in a tin shed erected in the premises of the residential house in question was recovered in presence of Ex Magistrate 1st Class.

The ANT said further during the search 12.934 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle Alto JK04H-8687 parked at the main gate of an under construction residential house on the instance of Rouf Bhat.

The drug peddler has been arrested and more arrests are expected in instant case. “General public are requested to comeforward and join hands with ANTF so that the rising drug menace is completely eradicated in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir,” the statement said.
