Anantnag-Rajouri LS constituency | Hold polling as per schedule: Tarigami to ECI
Srinagar, Apr 29: CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has appealed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to hold Lok Sabha (LS) polls in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency as per the schedule.
Addressing a press conference here, he said if the polls in the constituency are rescheduled it will affect the credibility and importance of ECI." Some parties have written to ECI for rescheduling of the poll date. Some more parties are being asked to write similar letters to ECI. But there is no justification in postponing the polling. Rains keep on occurring. This is not something new. If a road gets closed it reopens also. The other roads remain also open. The elections in the constituency should be held as per the schedule," Tarigami said.
He claimed that the BJP had got unnerved with the polling in Udhampur and Jammu parliamentary constituencies. " May be the people have not voted the way BJP was expecting. BJP leaders are disappointed and angry with people," the CPI M) leader said.
Tarigami stated that even the first two phases of polling in the country has made BJP nervous." The party leaders are feeling the polling was is not on their expected lines. They were claiming above 400 seats or above 370. But ground realities say it is not happening. As you sow so shall you reap. The BJP leaders have become so angry now that they are targeting a particular community and trying to cause division among various communities in the country. This should not happen. Victory and defeat is part of elections. Parties win and parties lose. This verdict has to be accepted. The post of a prime minister is above these victories and defeats. Prime Minister has to unite the people instead of diving them. Where has the slogan of sabkaka saath gone," he said.
Tarigami stated that the people are facing enormous problems like inflation and unemployment while on the other hand capitalists are getting every kind of government facility.
