Anantnag Police arrest to drug peddlers, seizes over 2 kg Charas

Anantnag, July 26: In its continuing efforts to curb the drug menace, Anantnag Police achieved a significant breakthrough on Saturday by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substances in separate operations conducted in the Bijbehara and Sangam areas.

According to a press statement issued to the Greater Kashmir, Police party from Police Station Bijbehara, during a routine naka checking near Dupatyar crossing, intercepted one suspicious individual. The person was identified as Mohd. Yousuf Mir, son of Gh. Ahmad Mir, resident of Dupatyar. During the search, approximately 01 kilogram of a substance resembling Charas powder was recovered from his possession.

In a separate operation, a police team from Police Post Sangam laid a naka at Nati Pora Sangam Bund. One individual approaching from Nati Pora towards NHW, carrying a polythene bag, attempted to flee upon seeing the police party. However, he was tactfully apprehended by the naka party, it reads.

it further reads that upon search 1.290 kilograms of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The individual identified himself as Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Wali Mohammad Dar, resident of Nati Pora Sangam. He was immediately taken into custody.

In this regard cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation is in progress.

Anantnag Police reiterated that it remains steadfast in its commitment to eliminate the scourge of drugs from society, "We appeal to the general public to extend their cooperation by sharing any information related to drug trafficking. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential."
