Anantnag administration initiates land identification for driving test centre
Anantnag, Oct 21: The district administration of Anantnag has begun the process of identifying land for setting up a dedicated driving test centre.
According to a proposal from the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) of Anantnag, Mubashir Jan, the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) has directed the Tehsildar of Bijbehara to identify a suitable patch of land in the Jablipora area of Bijbehara. The direction has been issued under order No. DCA/SQ/25/F/L/(-E 7597906) 3582-83.
The ACR has also asked the Tehsildar to furnish relevant documents, including the Shajra Khasra of the identified land, details of any encumbrances, and prevailing market rates.
Residents have welcomed the move, expressing hope that the facility will ease the process of obtaining driving licences in the district.
“Despite being the largest district, we were without a proper driving trial centre. The ARTO department was managing trials temporarily near the Harnag railway station. We hope the new centre will make things much easier for applicants,” said Showkat Ahmad, a resident of Anantnag.
