Jammu, Nov 20: ‘Clean Fuel Rally 2024’ - honouring the contributions of Dr Verghese Kurien, the “Milk Man of India,” was flagged off from Jammu for Delhi, as part of “National Milk Day” celebrations, on Wednesday.

The rally, organised by Amul in association with Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) and Bajaj Auto, was flagged off with immense zeal and enthusiasm from their Satwari dairy plant, following an impressive ceremony.

Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner- Jammu; Ashok Kumar Angurana, Chairman JKMPCL, Manjeet Singh Regional Manager Sales-Bajaj Auto Limited and Abhishek Sharma, Zonal Incharge, Chandigarh Zone- Amul jointly flagged off the rally, sending a group of dedicated bikers on their journey to Delhi.

The ‘Clean Fuel’ rally, spanning 783 kilometers, will pass through major cities such as Jammu, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Karnal, Rohtak and conclude in Delhi on November 26, 2024. November 26 is celebrated nationwide as “National Milk Day.”

This initiative seeks to introduce young people to the various institutions established by Dr Kurien across India and raise awareness about sustainability, promoting the use of Bio CNG to create a circular economy that benefits farmers and improves the environment.

Amir Gupta, Branch Manager, Jammu from Amul welcomed all the dignitaries and school students on this occasion.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, in his address, commended JKMPCL, Amul and their partners for organizing this meaningful initiative. He stated, “Dr Verghese Kurien's visionary leadership transformed India's dairy industry, uplifting millions of rural farmers.”

The Chairman JKMPCL emphasized the importance of initiatives like the ‘Clean Fuel’ rally in spreading awareness about sustainable practices. “By promoting Bio-CNG, we not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also honour Dr Kurien's legacy of uplifting farmers and ensuring their economic well-being,” he said.

The rally participants, a group of enthusiastic bikers, began their journey amidst cheers and encouragement from the gathered crowd of students, JKMPCL and Amul Staff members.

They will engage with local communities at various stops, sharing knowledge about Dr Kurien’s contributions and the benefits of clean energy.

The Head of Bajaj Motors expressed great pride in participating in the rally, highlighting the company’s dedication to advancing sustainable mobility solutions. “The “Clean Fuel” rally serves as a reminder of the transformative power of innovation and sustainability for a brighter future,” he said.

Chirag Bhensdadia, Chief Executive Officer, JKMPCL expressed his gratitude to all participants and emphasized the pivotal role of cooperation in fostering growth in the dairy sector. He reiterated JKMPCL’s commitment to supporting and empowering milk producers. He thanked all those who helped to make the event on National Milk Day a successful event.
