Aizawl (Mizoram), Mar 3: Secretary to Government, Cooperation Department Amit Sharma today visited Mizoram Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited (MULCO) at its headquarters located in the capital Aizawl.

According to a press release, he was accompanied by Registrar Cooperative Societies John L Sanga and was received by MULCO, Managing Director Harsh Vardhan and Manager Lalhmunliani alongwith others.

The primary objective of MULCO visit by Secretary Cooperation alongwith Registrar Cooperative Societies was to assess its working along with boosting-up its production, expanding market base with better marketing and branding along with diversifying its operations in times to come.

Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma held detailed deliberations there on several novel initiatives to improve milk production through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies located all across the state which is the need of the hour. It was brought to the notice of Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma that MULCO has good network all across the state and shall require constant support from NDDB to expand it further here.

At this juncture, Amit Sharma asked MULCO to keep taking various initiatives such as ensuring provision of cattle feed at subsidised rates to the cattle rearing farmers, giving competitive rates to the farmers for milk, expanding marketing base of MULCO and sell milk and milk products to key places such as Assam Rifles, Army and similar organisations to meet their huge daily requirements.
