Amit Sharma chairs strategic meeting
Aizawl (Mizoram), Mar 6: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Information and Communications Technology and Cooperation, Mizoram today chaired a strategic meeting regarding availability of broadband Internet connectivity at various points of Indo-Myanmar Border wherein Mizoram is sharing a large portion of its boundary with Myanmar in which all ISPs, DoT, Assam Rifles, Home and ICT department officers’ participated, a press release said.
At the outset, the chair of the meeting Secretary ICT Amit Sharma welcomed all the participants. He divulged that this meeting was in continuation to the last meeting held under the Chairpersonship of Chief Secretary Mizoram Khilli Ram Meena wherein explicit directions were given to him for meeting all the stakeholders and assessing the current status of Internet Availability at various points of the Indo-Myanmar Border so that Free Movement Regime (FMR) could be better regulated here on a real-time basis.
Amit emphatically told all the participants that there is nothing above the national interest and all the Internet Service Providers should rise above commercial interests and try best possible to provision smooth bandwidth at Indo-Myanmar Entry and Exit Points so as to make systems robust and connected with the use of latest Information Technology tools.
Secretary ICT Mizoram, Amit Sharma and his team took inputs from all service providers such as BSNL, Airtel and Reliance Jio in this Meeting about the current status of Internet Connectivity and mobile towers at the eighteen points of Indo-Myanmar Border located in Champhai, Lawngtlai, Saitual, Serchip and Siaha districts of Mizoram and they were given explicit directions by Amit to share exact status on same within next couple of days so that a comprehensive plan on same could be prepared for onward submission to the Higher Authorities.
