Amit Shah visits NDA, unveils Peshwa Bajirao memorial, urges cadets to uphold national ideals
New Delhi, Jul 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the National Defence Academy (NDA) on Friday, where he interacted with cadets and unveiled an equestrian statue of Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao.
During his address, Shah commended the cadets for their dedication and urged them to embody the highest ideals of service, courage, and national pride as future leaders of the armed forces.
Highlighting the NDA’s symbolic importance, Shah said the academy was the most appropriate site for Peshwa Bajirao’s memorial, given its role in shaping India’s military leadership. He praised Bajirao’s legacy, noting that his 40-year life was marked by exceptional military prowess and a vision that significantly shaped India’s historical trajectory, reports PTI. Shah added that the foundation of India’s sovereignty was strengthened by the battles led by Shivaji Maharaj and carried forward for a century by the Peshwas, without which, he said, the country's basic structure might have been lost.
