Amit Shah to inaugurate India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai on Oct 27
New Delhi, Oct 26: The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) will host India Maritime Week 2025 (IMW 2025) from October 27 to 31 at NESCO Grounds, Mumbai.
Touted as the world’s largest maritime gathering, the five-day event will bring together global stakeholders under the theme “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision.”
The event will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the presence of Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Bhupendra Patel (Gujarat), Pramod Sawant (Goa) and Mohan Charan Majhi (Odisha).
IMW 2025 aims to highlight India’s strategic vision to emerge as a global maritime hub and leader in the Blue Economy.
Ministers from 11 countries and their respective industry delegations will participate in discussions and business sessions, reflecting growing global confidence in India’s maritime potential.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the initiative will promote sustainable shipping, international connectivity, and investment in the maritime sector.
The mega event is expected to attract over 100,000 delegates and representatives from more than 85 countries, including global industry leaders, international organisations, and policy think tanks.
Several Indian states will also showcase investment opportunities and regional maritime strengths.
A major highlight will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special address on October 29, where he will interact with maritime leaders and chair a Global CEO Forum with top executives from international shipping and logistics companies.
With over 350 speakers, IMW 2025 is set to witness the signing of more than 600 MoUs worth around Rs 10 lakh crore, making it one of India’s largest investment events in the sector.
The exhibition and conference lineup will feature over 400 exhibitors and 12 flagship events, including the Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS 2025), QUAD Ports of the Future Conference, Sagarmanthan, The Great Oceans Dialogue, and SheEO Conference.
The event will also include country sessions with Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, and state sessions from 11 states and Union Territories, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and others, highlighting India’s growing role in global maritime cooperation.
