New Delhi, Sep 17: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of development projects worth about Rs 1723 crore under the Delhi government’s Seva Pakhwada initiative, marking the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The fortnight-long Seva Pakhwada, observed from September 17 to October 2, features welfare programmes, health campaigns, and social initiatives across the country. In Delhi, 17 new public welfare schemes were launched as part of the drive.

Amit Shah highlighted major national achievements under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, including the rise of 25 crore people above the poverty line, development of key religious and cultural projects such as the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, as well as economic progress that has elevated India to the world’s fourth-largest economy.

He also announced the inauguration of the Narela-Bawana Waste-to-Energy Plant, capable of processing 3,000 tons of waste daily, and the expansion of the Okhla facility handling 2,000 tons. Together, the projects are expected to generate electricity, promote green energy, and contribute to the circular economy. The Home Minister further stressed the government’s focus on inclusive development, tax reforms, and the promotion of domestic products to strengthen self-reliance. He also reiterated the government’s stand on cleansing voter rolls of infiltrators, while criticizing the opposition’s position on the issue.
